After I completed my Shadow with Flowers painting (also featured on my commission page), I posted it to my Facebook business page. some of my extended family like it so much that he hired me to paint his own late dog, sweet little Argus, playing in the aspens of the Valle Vidal.

My client sent me several photos to work from, both of Argus and and of the Valle Vidal. I “frankensteined” the best details of each image to create a totally new composition, and I also looked up my own reference photos for specific details, like the fallen leaves in the foreground.

We discussed his budget and any potential deadlines, and I got to work. I require contracts for paintings like this now; I draft each contract specifically for the particular project, and I never want either party to sign until my client has had a chance to review and propose edits. I take it very seriously that my project contracts always protect the needs of both me and my clients.
